For labiaplasty, local anesthesia usually provides enough numbness. However, you might also consider additional sedation or general anesthesia as alternatives.
A labiaplasty takes around 60 minutes.
There is no need for hospitalization after having labiaplasty.
Swelling, bruising, and a little blood oozing are concomitant in the first few days.
The stitches will be dissolvable; therefore, there is no need for stitch removal.
A labiaplasty does not restrict your daily activities, you may continue your usual life.
In Dubai, the cost of a labiaplasty typically ranges from 10,000 to 30,000 AED. If you choose additional sedation or general anesthesia, those will come with extra charges. Also, these figures aren’t Dr. Baycin’s specific pricing; he’ll provide you with the exact cost during your consultation once he assesses your situation.
Having a clean medical history and no systemic diseases, like heart disease, is crucial for anyone considering labiaplasty in Dubai.
This surgery can be a great option for women dealing with labia hypertrophy, provided they have completed their genital development.
It’s important to note that labiaplasty isn’t influenced by whether or not you’ve given birth. You can still opt for the procedure regardless of your sexual history. Since the hymen is situated at the vaginal entrance, labiaplasty won’t affect it. So, even if you haven’t had sexual experience, you can still undergo this surgery.
Additionally, labia reduction surgery won’t hinder your ability to get pregnant, have a normal delivery, or enjoy sexual intimacy and climax. Women who have had labiaplasty in the past can still conceive in the future. In fact, this procedure can enhance sexual function for many women.
Dr. Nazmi Baycin performs labiaplasty surgery in a private, JCI-accredited hospital in Dubai. The facility ensures the highest standards of safety, hygiene, and discretion. Dr. Baycin prioritizes patient privacy and comfort throughout the process. Your procedure is carried out in a fully equipped, modern surgical setting designed for safe and respectful care.
There are three anesthesia options available for your labiaplasty surgery. At a minimum, you’ll need local anesthesia, but if you’re looking for a bit more comfort, deep sedation or general anesthesia could be great alternatives.
Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. So, feel free to choose the type of anesthesia that you believe will make you feel the safest and most at ease.
There are several common methods for labiaplasty that focus on the cosmetic surgery of the labia minora and labia majora.

A marginal skin excess removal method of labiaplasty

A wedge-shaped skin removal method of labiaplasty

A zigzag-shaped skin removal method of labiaplasty
Before beginning the details of the labiaplasty procedure, I first mark the trimming lines on both the left and right labia to ensure perfect symmetry. This step helps minimize the risk of uneven results. The goal is to achieve a balanced shape and size on both sides.
I design a unique technique for each patient’s individual anatomical features. The surgical approach I use is intended not only to reduce the size of the labia minora but also to create harmony between the labia majora and the clitoral hood, resulting in overall aesthetic balance.
During the procedure, I carefully remove any excess tissue from the inner labia, then reshape and adjust the remaining tissue to align smoothly with the outer labia. The labia is extremely sensitive and contains a dense network of nerves. To prevent any loss of sensation in the future, I use meticulous micro-dissection techniques to preserve nerve integrity.
Standard suturing techniques often result in poor scarring. Every single suture leaves a notch-like mark, resulting in multiple notches and irregularities along the wound edge and suture line. To prevent these issues, I always use micro-surgical internal suturing methods that leave no visible stitches.
Many women express concerns about discoloration along the edges of the labia. In such cases, the marginal trimming method can effectively address darker pigmentation by removing that outer skin.
Preserving the natural function of the labia is always a priority. I avoid completely removing the labia, as they play an essential role in protecting the vaginal opening.
The marginal skin removal does not scar the body of the labia, which is a key difference from the wedge technique.
I offer the wedge labiaplasty technique in rare cases only, when reduction of a specific segment is required and there is sufficient longitudinal length to approximate the wound edges. This method is not a suitable option to reduce the overall size of the labia. Employing the wedge technique for overall labial reduction leads to problems such as wound dehiscence, or retraction of the labial edge.
Some surgeons choose to perform labiaplasty using laser technology, often promoting it as an advanced method. While it is true that this approach is considered advanced, laser devices generate thermal energy, which causes additional heat-related damage to the wound edge beyond the surgical wound itself. Thermally damaged wound edge leads to delayed wound healing and increases the risk of more visible scarring. For these reasons, I prefer to perform labiaplasty without the use of lasers, opting instead for techniques that allow for more precise control and gentler tissue handling, resulting in a smoother recovery and more refined aesthetic outcome.
It’s also important to recognize that natural asymmetry between the labia is common. If one side is larger than the other, I address this during the procedure. I can also tailor adjustments based on the individual anatomy to help achieve the desired aesthetic outcome.
Marginal skin removal, as you can see in the first picture, is my main technique for labiaplasty. I’ve used customized modifications of this method on over 95% of my patients so far.
This particular labiaplasty technique tends to yield the most gratifying results for both the surgeon and the patient. Not only does it lead to high satisfaction, but it also minimizes issues like suture dehiscence during the healing process.

Dr. Nazmi Baycin, a leading authority in female cosmetic genital surgery, presented advanced labiaplasty techniques at the 2011 Cosmetic Gynecology Congress, where he served as an invited lecturer and trainer in his capacity as a plastic surgeon — a milestone session that helped shape modern aesthetic approaches in the field.
Sometimes, you might notice excess skin around the clitoris, making it appear more prominent. This skin can resemble an extra labia nestled between the left and right outer labia. In these situations, I take a different approach than many other surgeons. I tailor the labiaplasty design specifically to address this issue, which requires a unique level of expertise.
The clitoris is an incredibly sensitive area, and the hood that covers it serves to protect it from external contact. If too much of the hood is removed, it can lead to constant exposure and, consequently, ongoing sexual arousal. That’s why, during labiaplasty surgery, I make it a priority to preserve the hood while carefully removing any excess skin around it.
The labiaplasty design I’ve created is not your typical template. If needed, I can remove the extra skin from both the labia minora and the clitoral hood, but I always ensure that the part covering the clitoris remains intact. This way, I can help achieve a natural appearance for the genital area, just as it should be.
In rare and extreme cases, I can also craft customized labiaplasty designs based on the specific disfigurement present.
Additionally, labia reduction can be combined with labia majora surgery and/or vaginal tightening if desired.
Labiaplasty is often seen as a straightforward procedure that simply involves removing extra skin from the labia and stitching it back. However, creating a result that looks natural and feels comfortable requires careful design, planning and precise surgical technique. When these details are not given enough attention, the final outcome may not meet expectations, and some women may experience concerns after surgery.
In my experience, the most common problems seen in women who come to me for correction after a previous labiaplasty include:
Some of these issues are mild and may not require further treatment. Others, however, can significantly affect comfort or confidence and may require corrective surgery, which is often more complex than the initial procedure.
In terms of recovery, labiaplasty is actually a pretty straightforward procedure and not as painful as you might think. Thanks to the long-lasting local anesthetic I’ll use, you won’t feel any discomfort on the first day, which is usually when most of the pain kicks in. Once the anesthetic wears off the next day, you might experience some mild pain, but don’t worry—pain medication will help ease that for the first couple of days.
After you leave the hospital, you can get back to your normal routine during your recovery.
In the first few days, you might notice a little blood oozing from the wound, but that’s completely normal after labiaplasty. This oozing would stop on its own within a day or two. Just use a pad like you would during your period.
You can expect some swelling and bruising in the surgical area after the procedure. This is typical for any surgery, and both the swelling and bruising should fade away within a week.
You might feel a slight burning sensation when urine comes into contact with the fresh surgical site during urination. However, this should subside within a day or two as the wound heals.
There’s no need for special care for the surgical wound after labiaplasty. Just keep it clean, and you can even take a shower the next day, using baby shampoo to wash the area.
Since I use absorbable and hidden sutures, you won’t have to worry about the stress of stitch removal.
You’ll be able to resume sexual intercourse about 3-4 weeks after the procedure, once you’re pain-free.

UAE rules do not allow to share labiaplasty before and after pictures. However if you visit me for consultation, I would show you plenty of before and after pictures.
Satisfaction rate diagram after a labiaplasty
The complication rate associated with labiaplasty is drawn from a variety of medical literature. This rate can fluctuate based on the surgeon’s level of experience.
As outlined in the medical literature, potential risks and complications of labiaplasty include infection, bleeding, wound dehiscence, and asymmetries. However, this doesn’t mean you will necessarily face any or all of these issues.
Infection and bleeding can often be avoided with careful surgical techniques and the use of antibiotics. Issues such as asymmetrical labia, wound dehiscence, and edge irregularities are more closely tied to the surgeon’s expertise in performing labiaplasty. Overall, complications are reported in less than 4% of cases according to the literature data.
In my own practice, I haven’t encountered such complications in over 1,000 cases. Once the wound has fully healed, there won’t be any visible surgical marks—so much so that even other doctors might not realize you’ve had a labiaplasty.
When performed with precision, the results of this surgery can be incredibly satisfying and aesthetically pleasing. As a plastic surgeon, I can say that this is one of my favorite procedures, especially when it comes to enhancing patient experiences.
Labiaplasty can significantly boost your sexual confidence, bringing joy to your intimate life. The procedure not only enhances the appearance of the genital area but also contributes positively to your psychological well-being.
IMPORTANT ! Before getting the appointment, check your medical conditions yourself.
