I should be candid about the evidence, because it has been changing. A systematic review published in 2023 found no clear evidence that plasma injections improved female sexual function, and for years that was a fair summary. Since then, a randomized trial of fifty-two premenopausal women has compared a single plasma injection into the vaginal wall against a saline placebo: the treated group’s Female Sexual Function Index score rose by a median of 2.2 points at six weeks against 0.3 in the placebo group, and about seven in ten of the treated women reported an improvement, with no serious adverse events. That is encouraging, and it is also early work — a small pilot at one centre, in women who did not have severe sexual dysfunction, and with the injection confined to the vaginal wall rather than including the clitoris as I do. So I would rather set the expectation honestly than promise more than the evidence yet supports, and we will talk through what is realistic for you at consultation.
When can you resume normal life?
Recovery is genuinely easy. As soon as the procedure is complete you can return to your normal routine, and you can even have sexual intercourse the same day.
