Why might you consider dermal fillers?
When we describe a face as attractive, we are often responding to how closely its proportions align with the golden ratio, in three dimensions. Fillers — and, as a separate injectable, Botox — are useful tools for nudging a face toward that ideal balance, whether by restoring volume where it has been lost or by refining the contours of the cheeks, jaw, and lips.
Most dermal fillers are made from hyaluronic acid, a substance our bodies produce naturally, which makes it highly compatible with our tissues. For safety, I recommend using only dermal fillers approved by the FDA and the Center for Devices and Radiological Health.
And while the materials themselves are generally very safe, the result depends heavily on technique — the depth of the injection, the amount used, and how evenly it is distributed all shape the final outcome, which is exactly why filler is best placed by an experienced medical hand.
Is filler injection safe?
Hyaluronic acid is the go-to material for fillers, and because it is something the body produces naturally, it integrates well with our tissues — so there is very little risk of rejection, side effects, or allergic reaction. That good tolerance is part of what makes HA filler so versatile: the same material can enhance the lips, soften nasolabial folds, address fine lines under the eyes, and restore volume across the face. As with any injectable, the safety of the result still rests on sound technique and good product, which is why it should always be done in a proper medical setting.
What can dermal fillers treat?
Dermal filler is remarkably versatile, and I use it across several areas of the face and body.
Lip augmentation
The aims of lip filler are to reshape the lips, enhance their volume, and define their contours. Here especially, the injection point, the depth, and the quantity all make a real difference, so each of these has to be judged carefully to achieve the natural, balanced look you are after rather than an overfilled one.
Nasolabial fold correction
As we age, the soft tissue of the cheeks loosens and settles downward, which deepens the line between the cheek and the mouth and can make the face look older. Placing filler beneath the nasolabial fold softens that line and restores a smoother transition, which lifts the overall appearance and takes a few years off.
Under-eye filler
Under-eye filler smooths the fine lines and wrinkles that form around and beneath the eyes, and helps reduce the appearance of the bags that can develop between the cheek and the lower eyelid. The effect is refreshing as much as corrective — it revitalizes a tired-looking area and gives the whole face a more rested, youthful look.
Genital (labia majora) filler
The outer labia can become thinner with age or simply through genetics, as the skin loses elasticity and begins to wrinkle. In these cases a filler can restore lost volume and a smoother surface, discreetly and comfortably — and where a longer-lasting result is wanted, I also offer surgical labia majora augmentation (vulvoplasty) using your own fat.
Volume enhancement
Filler is an excellent way to restore volume where the face has lost it, and the cheeks, jawline, chin, and temples are the areas people most often ask about. For someone not ready for rhinoplasty, a nasal filler can be a very good non-surgical alternative for refining minor irregularities. These injections are not painful and need no special aftercare — you can return to your day straightaway.
You may notice some swelling in the first forty-eight hours, which settles quickly, and occasionally the needle tip causes a little bleeding that can bruise; if it happens it is nothing to worry about and usually fades within a couple of days. Depending on the formulation, the result lasts from six to twelve months, and you can simply repeat the treatment to build or maintain the volume you want, with no strict time limits.
What is the Nefertiti lift?
Across history, few faces have been held up as a benchmark of elegance the way Nefertiti’s has — the Egyptian queen celebrated for her long neck and striking jawline. The Nefertiti lift takes its name from her, and it aims to create that same sought-after oval face with a sculpted jawline and neck.
Of course, every face is different, and Nefertiti’s is not a template to be copied onto everyone — so I plan the treatment around your own features, to give you a Nefertiti-like elegance that genuinely suits your face. It is achieved through a considered combination of filler placements:
Cheek lift
Filler placed over the cheekbone restores height and projection to the midface, lifting the soft tissue that has settled downward with age and re-establishing the upper curve of the oval face.
Jaw line definition
Filler along the jawline creates a more defined contour, which is especially helpful for those with a weaker or underdeveloped chin and jaw.
Chin enhancement
Filler along the chin bone highlights the front of the chin, and that added projection helps bring the whole face toward a more balanced, oval shape. Where a permanent result is preferred, I also offer surgical chin augmentation.
Double chin correction
When excess fat under the chin blurs the line between chin and neck, a fat-dissolving injection — a different agent from dermal filler — can help reduce that fat and sharpen the angle between chin and neck. For more significant fullness, surgical double chin removal addresses the cause more definitively.
What is Texas jaw line definition?
The Texas jawline definition is particularly suited to those with a weaker jawbone and a less defined jaw. By placing filler carefully along the lower jaw margin, the face takes on sharper, more distinct features — a stronger, more confident-looking jawline that many feel gives an impression of a stronger personality.
