Why do you need breast lift?
Breast lift is a procedure that reshapes the breast and corrects the drooping.
Sagging, softness and deformation of the breasts are the most sensitive issues for women.
Breast tissue is entirely composed of fat and mammary glands. However it does not contain muscle in its structure. Therefore, the tissue loses its youthfulness in course of time due to gravity, aging, weight alteration, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and inappropriate bra usage.
Due to volume loss or skin loosening, soft tissue droop. Consequently such deformations push women to seek various remedies.
Fortunately, it is possible to correct them when they have lost their fullness and youthfulness with surgery. If you have both small and drooping breast problems, breast lift alone is not adequate. It does not provide extra volume. If you wish extra volume in conjunction with the breast lift, placement of breast implant necessitates, because, the goal of extra fullness is merely reached in this way.

Breast asymmetries and poor scarring due to slipshod suturing of surgical incisions are the most common complaint of the patients consulting me. Sometimes, their corrective surgery challenges are even more complex than to do the primary surgery. Therefore your first surgery is crucial. The goal is to achieve the best outcome in a single surgery.

How will I design your breasts?
The goal of the breast lift is to obtain symmetrical breasts with a natural shape in a size proportioned to your body.
I always identify your appropriate size as taking into account your body measurements. First, I determine the difference between your present size and the desired size. Therefore, possible asymmetries arising from the shape and size differences between the two breasts also emerge. Size and shape variations between right and left may occur in most of the women.
Properly determining the sagging degree is also important. Nipple position relatively submammary fold is a reference for me. I determine the sagging degree according to how much the nipple is below the level of the submammary line.
If you are older than 40, it is better if you take mammography before the breast lift.
Which surgical methods will I use for mastopexy?
The most crucial step of preoperative planning is to choose a proper surgical technique. Sagging degree and their size are the key of the technique selection. The more sagging, the more surgical marks left after procedure.
If you have mild loose and drooping breasts:
If you have mild sagging, there are two technical options for breast lift. We will mutually decide the technique which is proper for you. I will explain which is suitable for you according to your size.
If you have normal size, excess skin tightening around the nipple is necessary, by the way the nipple transposes upward. This method leaves only a circumferential surgical mark around the areola.
You may have mild sagging and they look somewhat small. In such cases, breast enlargement procedure alone looks a very judicious option.
For lifting effect, anatomic implants provides better result than round implants do. Because implants enhance the volume, and leads to skin tightening also. Therefore, you would achieve both enlargement and lifting at the same time with less scars.
If you have moderate and severe loose and drooping breasts:
If you have moderate and severe sagging, there are two distinct approaches for breast lift.
The first one is more proper for moderate sagging. In this technique, I remove the excess skin around the areola circumferentially. When I remove the remaining skin off the lower pole, the breast tissue becomes visible. Gathering the lower part of the breast tissue makes a lifting effect. Finally, I stitch the skin edges around the areola. This method leaves a circumferential scar only around the areola.
In the second method, I remove excess skin both around the areola and vertically towards the submammary fold. Then, I gather the lower part of the breast tissue. Finally I stitch the skin edges and close the wound. This method leaves the scars on both around the areola and vertically from the areola towards submammary fold.
Sometimes, your breasts may look small and you may want them to be a bit larger. If so, placing an implant during the procedure is an alternative option to enlarge the breasts.
Stages of breast lift surgery
Surgical stages: 1- Incision marking, 2- Removal of excess skin, 3- Tightening of the lower pole tissue, 4- Skin closure
Bellesoma Breast Lift
If you have severe drooping breasts Bellesoma breast lift ıs also feasible. This method does not leave a vertical scar, however, two separate scars occur:
- Round scar around the areola
- Horizontal scar throughout the submammary fold
Bellesoma breast lift is a useful method in severe droopy breasts when the distance between the present areola and the proposed areola is longer than 6 cm.
Do you need breast lift with implant?
Due to the multiple pregnancies or massive weight loss, breasts drop, and also their size reduce. In such cases, a lifting procedure alone does not provide a satisfactory result and well patient experience. Additionally, breast implants are necessary to enhance breast size.
During the surgical procedure, an appropriate size of breast implant placements make your breasts look more attractive.
How is the recovery period after breast lift?
Breast lift requires general anesthesia. It will last about 2-3 hours depending on your breast’s deformity. You will be able to mobilize 3-4 hours after procedure.
Although the surgery will be under general anesthesia, I will also inject a local anesthetic to the surgical area. Thanks to long-lasting local anesthetic I will use during the procedure, you will not feel any pain on the first day when the actual pain is mostly felt. Possible mild pain that you will feel on the following days is normal. Pain medication helps you to feel comfortable. You will be able to leave the hospital the next day.
Swelling (edema) and occasional bruising which will disappear in 10 days are concomitant to procedure.
2-3 days later, you will be able to take a shower.
I always stitch the skin with absorbable and hidden sutures, so you will not feel stitch removal stress.
During the recovery period you will be mobile without being dependent on the bed with minimal discomfort. Almost all my patients ask me when they will be able to begin daily activities. No need to ask me. When you attempt to do something, just listen to your body. Your body will already say “Go on” or “Stop”. Then you can limit your activities yourself accordingly.
You can return your work and have flight trip a few days after breast lift procedure.
Swimming is also possible after two weeks which is enough time wound to heal.
Finally the breasts will gain their actual form in 6 months.
How do you feel yourself after the breast lift?
Diagram shows, how you will feel yourself emotionally during the recovery period of breast lift. The effect of the surgery may impair your emotional status. However, as time goes on, you will recover and get rid of surgical effects; and eventually, you will gain your confidence back.
Can you feed your baby after pregnancy?
Breast lift is often considered more appropriate for women who do not plan pregnancy. Because each pregnancy will cause deformation.
However, life is full of surprises, you may conceive in the future as well. Since the mammary gland damage is minimal, all patients will be able to feed the baby after pregnancy. Even the patients with silicone implants are also able to feed their baby. The only problem you may experience after pregnancy is the likelihood that your breasts may be deformed again.
What are the risks and complications of breast lift?
Patient satisfaction rate after breast lift
The complication rates of breast lift are the compilation of medical literature data. The rates may vary depending on the patient’s medical conditions. That does not mean you will experience all those complications.
Infection and hematoma (blood collection inside the wound), seroma (fluid collection inside the wound) risks are general risks of all surgical procedures. However, thorough surgical technique and proper medication this can prevent such risks after a breast lift.
Light-skinned patients and those with normal wound healing will not have significant scars. However, the quality of the scars may vary. Poor scarring may require revision.
In case of any complication, it may discomfort you, and prolong the recovery period. However, it can be managed and treated as well.
The factors affecting the scar quality are genetic factors, such as age and skin characteristics of the person. Surgical scars initially look reddish, but fade by the time, and eventually become similar to the normal skin color. Fading the scar color may take 6-12 months.
Following the surgery minor asymmetries between the left and right side may occur.

Breast lift costs in Dubai vary from clinic to clinic and depend on degree of sagging and the surgical technique accordingly. In my practice:
- Breast lift price: 30,000 AED ($8,200)
- Breast lift with implant price: 40, 000 AED ($11,000).
