Why do you need dimple creation?
In the past, it was believed that a dimple is a dominant character genetically. If the parents have a dimple, the belief that the child would be dimpled was also dominant.
However, recent research has proved that a dimple has an irregular dominant character. In other words, although both parents have dimples, the child may not have a dimple.
Although most of the dimples are constant, some of them may disappear due to the facial muscle weakening in years. As we age, the noticeability of dimples lessen, therefore it also represents youthfulness.

How will I perform the dimple creation surgery?
Since it involves very small and limited area, local anesthesia provides sufficient numbness. Dimple surgery takes about 30 minutes for each.
Creation of cheek and chin dimples are feasible to carry out by approaching inside the mouth. 1 cm incision is adequate for surgical manipulation. I remove a little amount of fat for the skin to appear more hollow. Then I fix the skin internally with the stitches which pull the skin inside.
While fat removal provides a hollower appearance of the skin, internal stitches provide its permanency. At the end, I close the wound with the stitches which are resorbed in 7-10 days following the dimple surgery.
Since the surgical wound is located inside the mouth, there will be no visible surgical mark outside.
Creating the “Venus Dimple” on the back is a totally different procedure than cheek and chin dimple. Because of the location difference, fat tissue thickness needs reducing on the back side. Vaser liposuction method requires the skin to be made hollower. I remove a little fat on the back side from the round shaped 2-4 cm area with vaser liposuction. 3-4 mm fat removal provides a dimple appearance.
How is the recovery period following dimple surgery?

You can resume your usual life just after dimple surgery. Mild pain is concomitant after procedure, however painkillers relieve your pain. You will feel no pain a couple days after the procedure.
The important point is, since the wound is located inside the mouth, you should consume soft foods for around 4-5 days. Also you should rinse your mouth with antiseptic solution after every feed for 4-5 days.
How will your face look after dimple surgery?
Immediately after dimple surgery, because of the pulling effect of the internal stitch, your dimple will look pretty sharp. As the stitch gets looser and dissolves, the dimple appears softer.
The softening process may take 1 week. In other words, be informed beforehand that it will look sharp and unnatural at first. Therefore do not worry when you look at the mirror just after dimple surgery.
How will you feel yourself after dimple creation?
Diagram shows, how you will feel yourself emotionally during the recovery period of dimple surgery. The effect of the surgery may impair your emotional status. However, as time goes on, you will recover and get rid of surgical effects; and eventually, you will gain your confidence back.
What are the risks and complications of the dimple surgery?
Dimple creation is a minor surgical procedure. Rarely, it may regress and flatten due to the surgeon’s experience and used surgical technique. There are no large series that show the risks and complications in medical literature. During the cheek dimple surgery, the location of the dimple is close to the buccal nerve and muscles. Therefore, nerve and muscle injuries may occur. The unsatisfied patient rate is higher than the other procedures because of the unnatural dimple appearance. Thus, some patients request reversal of the dimple following the procedure.
