Dimple Creation Surgery in Dubai

nazmi baycin plastic surgeon

A dimple can lend a smile a particular warmth and charm, and for many people it is a small feature they have always wished they had. I am Dr. Nazmi Baycin, and my dimple creation in Dubai — also called dimpleplasty — creates natural-looking cheek, chin, or back dimples through a tiny, precise procedure, designed to suit your face and to soften into something that looks entirely your own. The whole art of it lies in restraint: a dimple that looks earned rather than added.

I want to be candid from the outset, because it matters here more than with most procedures. A dimple is a permanent change, and it must look natural to please you — which is why careful placement and, above all, careful patient selection are everything. Performing dimple surgery in Dubai within JCI-accredited hospitals, I take the time to understand what you are hoping for and to make sure the result will genuinely suit you before we proceed. The principle is the one that guides all my work: to restore form is to restore function.

Why do you need dimple creation?

Dimples have long been thought of as a simple inherited trait — the old belief was that two dimpled parents would always have a dimpled child — but the genetics are in fact more complex than that, and even two parents with dimples may have a child without them. A natural cheek dimple comes from a small developmental quirk in the cheek muscle, and while most dimples last a lifetime, some fade as the facial muscles gradually weaken with age, which is part of why dimples are so associated with youthfulness and charm.

In recent years, admired faces such as Miranda Kerr, Cheryl Cole, and Jennifer Garner have made cheek dimples especially sought after, and the demand for creating them has grown accordingly. For the many people who were simply never born with one, dimple creation offers a way to add that touch of warmth to a smile.

What kinds of dimples can be created?

Not all dimples are the same, and I create three different kinds, each in the place and manner that suits it.

Cheek dimples

Cheek dimples are the most common request, and they sit a few centimeters in from the corner of the mouth. They can be made on one side or both — natural cheek dimples appear on both sides in only about one in three people — so we decide together whether one or two best suits your smile.

Chin dimples

The chin dimple, set in the middle of the chin, is the second most common type. It gives definition to the chin and, for the right face, a distinctive, characterful look.

Back (Venus) dimples

Back dimples — often called Venus dimples — are the least common and sit just above each side of the lower back, above the buttocks. Because of where they are and how they form, they call for a quite different technique from facial dimples, which I describe below.

Dimple types in Dubai — location, technique, and prevalence
Dimple type Location How it’s created
Cheek dimple A few cm in from the corner of the mouth (one or both sides) Intraoral incision, fat removal, internal tethering suture
Chin dimple Middle of the chin Intraoral incision, fat removal, internal tethering suture
Back (Venus) dimple Just above each side of the lower back Vaser liposuction of a small 2–4 cm area (3–4 mm of fat)

Are you a good candidate for dimple creation?

Because a dimple is permanent and must look natural to make you happy, honest candidacy really matters — and I would rather have that conversation openly than send you home with a result that does not suit you. Before your consultation, it helps to reflect on a few things:

  • Your motivation. Are you hoping for a subtle, natural enhancement to your smile, rather than a dramatic or exaggerated dimple?
  • Your placement. Do you have a clear sense of where you would like the dimple, so we can check it suits your natural smile and cheek movement?
  • Your health. A clean medical history and good general health are the foundation of safe surgery, and a tendency to keloid scarring is worth flagging.
  • Your expectations. Do you understand that the dimple looks sharp at first and softens over about a week, and that it is a permanent change?

We will talk all of this through candidly, and proceed only when we are both confident the result will genuinely suit you.

How does Dr. Baycin perform dimple creation surgery?

Dimple creation is a small, quick procedure, and because the treated area is tiny, local anesthesia is all that is needed; each dimple takes only about thirty to forty minutes. For a cheek or chin dimple, I make a small incision, about one centimeter, inside the mouth — so there is never a scar on the outside — and through it I remove a little fat to create the hollow, then place an internal, dissolving stitch that gently tethers the skin inward to form the dimple. That internal stitch is what makes the result last, and it dissolves on its own within about seven to ten days.

A back (Venus) dimple is a different matter, because of where it sits: here I use the Vaser liposuction technique to gently reduce the fat over a small round area of about two to four centimeters, removing just three to four millimeters of fat — enough to create that soft, hollowed dimple. Because both cheek/chin dimples and my buccal fat removal are done from inside the mouth, the two can be combined comfortably when it suits a patient’s goals. The published evidence supports careful, technique-led dimple creation: a clinical analysis of dimple creation surgery found that complications are rare, so patient satisfaction — which depends on careful placement — is the key consideration.

Where does Dr. Baycin perform dimple creation in Dubai?

I perform every dimple creation in a high-quality, JCI-accredited hospital in Dubai that follows strict international standards of safety and hygiene. Your procedure is carried out in a modern, fully equipped medical setting, with natural results and your safety the priority throughout. Dimple creation is one of the smaller, finer touches within facial aesthetics; for the wider picture of facial reshaping, see my face transformation page.

What is recovery after dimple surgery like?

Recovery from dimple creation is quick and easy — you can return to your normal routine right away. There may be some mild discomfort afterward, which is easily managed with simple painkillers, and most people feel completely fine within a couple of days.

The one thing to remember is that, because the incision for a cheek or chin dimple is inside the mouth, it is best to keep to soft foods for about four to five days, and to rinse your mouth with an antiseptic solution after each meal during that time to keep the area clean. How will your dimple look afterward?

Right after your dimple surgery, you might notice that your dimple looks quite pronounced due to the tension from the internal stitch. But don’t worry. As the stitch loosens and eventually dissolves, your dimple will start to look softer and more natural.

This softening process usually takes about a week. It’s normal for your dimple to appear sharp and a bit unnatural at first. Try not to stress when you catch a glimpse of yourself in the mirror right after the surgery.

What are the risks and complications of dimple creation?

Dimple creation is a relatively simple and low-risk procedure, but I believe in being especially honest here, because this is one operation where managing expectations matters as much as surgical technique.

There are a few things to understand. First, a dimple can flatten and fade over time, and how well it lasts depends genuinely on the surgeon’s skill and the technique used. Second, because the cheek dimple is created close to the buccal nerve and the surrounding muscles, there is a small risk of nerve or muscle involvement, which is why precise, anatomy-aware placement is so important. And third — the most important point of all — the reported dissatisfaction rate for dimple surgery is higher than for many other cosmetic procedures, almost always because a dimple can end up looking unnatural, and some patients then ask for it to be reversed.

I tell you this not to discourage you, but because it is exactly why I am so careful about candidacy, placement, and a natural, understated result: chosen and placed well, a dimple is a lovely thing, and my whole aim is to make sure yours is one you will be glad you chose.

About Dr. Nazmi Baycin

Surgery, to me, is precision applied in service of restoration — a conviction that has guided every one of the more than 7,000 procedures I have performed over 25 years in practice. I am a DHA-licensed, board-certified plastic surgeon, trained in Turkey and based in Dubai since 2016. I operate exclusively within JCI-accredited hospitals, and hold international membership in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Three techniques, in particular, have become signatures of my practice. Scarless breast augmentation, performed through a transaxillary approach that leaves no incision on the breast itself. Labiaplasty designed individually around each patient’s own anatomy, never to a standard template. And 3D customized facial bone implants, engineered through CT-based bespoke printing — a technique I currently offer as the only surgeon in Dubai providing it. My practice today spans facial rejuvenation, breast surgery, body contouring, and cosmetic genital procedures, drawing patients from across the UAE, Europe, and the wider GCC. Yet the principle guiding each of these specialties has never changed: to restore form is to restore function.

FAQs about dimple creation in Dubai

  1. What is dimple creation surgery?

Dimple creation, also called dimpleplasty, is how I create a natural-looking dimple in the cheek, chin, or lower back through a tiny, precise procedure designed to suit your face. The whole art of it lies in restraint: a dimple that looks earned rather than added. For cheek and chin dimples I work through a small incision inside the mouth, so there is never a scar on the outside, and I shape the result to soften into something that looks entirely your own.

  2. How much does dimple creation cost in Dubai?

Dimple surgery costs in Dubai can vary quite a bit depending on the clinic. As a rough guide, a single dimple is generally around AED 5,000, a double dimple across both cheeks around AED 9,000, and a Venus (back) dimple around AED 7,000. These are general market figures, not Dr. Baycin’s personal rates; you’ll learn the exact amount at consultation, after your needs are evaluated.

  3. What kinds of dimples can be created?

I create three different kinds, each in the place and manner that suits it. Cheek dimples are the most common request, sitting a few centimeters in from the corner of the mouth, on one side or both. The chin dimple, set in the middle of the chin, gives definition and a characterful look. Back, or Venus, dimples are the least common and sit just above each side of the lower back, calling for a quite different technique from the facial dimples.

  4. How do you perform dimple creation surgery?

For a cheek or chin dimple, I make a small incision about one centimeter inside the mouth, so there is never an external scar, remove a little fat to create the hollow, then place an internal dissolving stitch that gently tethers the skin inward to form the dimple. That stitch is what makes the result last, and it dissolves within seven to ten days. A back dimple is different: there I use Vaser liposuction to reduce a small area of fat over the lower back.

  5. Are you a good candidate for dimple creation?

Because a dimple is permanent and must look natural to make you happy, honest candidacy really matters to me, and I would rather have that conversation openly than send you home with a result that does not suit you. The best candidates want a subtle, natural enhancement rather than a dramatic dimple, have a clear sense of placement, and are in good general health. A tendency to keloid scarring is worth flagging, and I always make sure you understand the change is permanent.

  6. Is dimple creation permanent?

Yes, it is designed to be permanent, held by the internal dissolving suture that tethers the skin inward. In some cases a dimple can soften or flatten over time, and how well it lasts depends genuinely on the surgeon’s skill and the technique used, which is why careful placement matters so much for a lasting result. I am always candid that this is a permanent change to your face, so we make the decision together, carefully, before proceeding.

  7. Does dimple creation leave a scar?

No visible scar at all. I create cheek and chin dimples entirely through a small incision inside the mouth, so nothing shows on the skin, and a Venus dimple is made through the tiny access points of Vaser liposuction, which also leave no visible mark. The internal stitch I use for facial dimples is dissolvable and disappears on its own within about seven to ten days, so there is nothing to come back and have removed.

  8. What is recovery after dimple surgery like?

Recovery is quick and easy, and you can return to your normal routine right away. There may be some mild discomfort afterward, easily managed with simple painkillers, and most people feel completely fine within a couple of days. The one thing to remember is that, because the incision for a cheek or chin dimple is inside the mouth, it is best to keep to soft foods for about four to five days and rinse with an antiseptic solution after each meal to keep the area clean.

  9. Why does my new dimple look so deep at first?

That is completely normal, so try not to worry when you first catch sight of yourself in the mirror. Right after surgery the dimple looks quite pronounced and a little sharp because of the tension from the internal stitch. As that stitch loosens and eventually dissolves over about a week, your dimple softens and starts to look more natural. The settled result, seen best when you smile, is the one designed to suit your face.

  10. Is dimple creation safe, and what are the risks?

It is a relatively simple, low-risk procedure, but I believe in being especially honest here. A dimple can flatten and fade over time, and because the cheek dimple is created close to the buccal nerve and surrounding muscles, precise, anatomy-aware placement is essential. Most importantly, the reported dissatisfaction rate is higher than for many cosmetic procedures, almost always because a dimple can look unnatural, which is exactly why I am so careful about candidacy, placement, and a natural, understated result.

  11. Can dimple creation be combined with other procedures?

Yes. Because I create cheek and chin dimples from inside the mouth, they can be combined comfortably with buccal fat removal, which is performed through the same intraoral route. Dimple creation can also accompany other facial procedures for a fuller enhancement within a single recovery. At your consultation I assess your goals and only recommend combining procedures where it genuinely suits your face and what you are hoping to achieve.

  12. Why do people choose dimple creation?

A dimple can lend a smile a particular warmth and charm, and for many people it is a small feature they have always wished they had. Natural cheek dimples come from a small developmental quirk in the cheek muscle, and some fade as the muscles weaken with age, which is part of why dimples are so associated with youthfulness. In recent years admired faces have made cheek dimples especially sought after, and creating one adds that touch of warmth to a smile.
