General anesthesia is necessary for facelift surgery.
A facelift surgery takes 2-4 hours depending on the surgical method.
Hospitalization is 1 day after having facelift. If you have a mini facelift procedure, you may leave the hospital on the same day.
Mild pain, swelling and bruising on the face are concomitant in the first week.
The stitches will be hidden and dissolvable; therefore, there is no need for stitch removal.
Downtim is 5-7 days after having facelift.
In Dubai, the cost of a facelift typically ranges from 15,000 to 60,000 AED. Keep in mind that these figures don’t represent Dr. Baycin’s specific pricing; you’ll receive the exact amount during your consultation after he evaluates your condition. The final price may increase if additional procedures are needed or if your hospital stay is extended.
Aging is something we all have to face; there’s no way around it. But if you’re looking to turn back the clock a bit, a facelift might be just what you need. This popular anti-aging procedure removes excess skin and can make you look 5 to 10 years younger. It really does wonders for your appearance, helping you look more youthful than your actual age.
There are three main facelift techniques out there, each designed for different age groups, even though they might vary in some technical aspects.
Having a clean medical history, good overall health, and being free from systemic diseases like heart disease are crucial for ensuring patient safety during facelift surgery.
When it comes to the need for surgery, how your face looks can be more important than your actual age. If your face shows signs that it could use a lift to appear younger, we can consider surgery, no matter how old you are.
During our consultation, I’ll choose the right technique that fits your age and expectations.
If you’ve experienced any trauma or have congenital malformations, you may require facial plastic and reconstructive surgery to help restore your facial tissues.

Endoscopic mid-facelift incision
I lean towards the endoscopic mid-facelift when the issue is drooping cheek tissue (without any wrinkles) and excess skin on the cheeks.
Endoscopic technique is more suited for younger individuals compared to the full facelift surgery. In fact, even people in their 20s and 30s who want a more vibrant facial look or a different face shape can consider it. This method is much newer than the standard technique.
At the start, I trim about 2 cm from both sides of the temple area where the hair covers. Then, I carefully insert a camera through the small incision in the skin. Using the camera’s view as my guide, I gently lift the soft tissues around the temple and cheek area away from the bone beneath. I then secure the soft tissues that have become detached from the bone by pulling them upward. Finally, I close the skin incisions with discreet stitches.
The endoscopic mid-facelift procedure typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. You’ll need to stay overnight at the hospital. Thanks to the short incisions and the bloodless nature of the procedure, you can expect to experience less pain.
What is ponytail facelift?
The ponytail facelift has been making waves lately, but it’s not really a new concept. It’s just a catchy name for what’s essentially an endoscopic facelift.
The recovery time after an endoscopic mid-facelift is generally shorter and more comfortable compared to a deep plane facelift. You can expect to feel some moderate pain for about 2-3 days, but don’t worry—I’ll prescribe pain medication to help ease that discomfort.
You’ll be up and about just a few hours after the procedure. If you’re feeling well, you can head home in the evening. But if you’d prefer to take it easy, staying overnight is totally fine.
You can hop in the shower two days after your endoscopic mid-facelift.
I use hidden absorbable stitches to close the wound, so there’s no need for you to come back to have them removed later.
While not everyone experiences this, some patients may notice swelling and bruising around the eyes. The good news is that these usually clear up on their own within 7-10 days.
Getting back to your normal routine and physical activities will take a little time until the swelling and bruising fade away.

Classical facelift incision
A deep plane facelift is the most thorough method available, effectively tightening the cheeks, jawline, and neck. I often recommend this approach for individuals with sagging cheeks and loose, wrinkled skin on their face and neck. This procedure not only rejuvenates the facial tissues but also gives a nice lift to the neck area. There are several variations of this technique, including the biplanar facelift, and SMAS plication, which can be tailored to meet individual needs.
In a deep plane facelift, I start by carefully detaching the skin over the cheek from the underlying tissue, making an incision along the front edge of the ear. Next, I lift the muscle tissue, along with its sheath known as SMAS, upwards. I secure it in place with internal stitches, which helps to lift the sagging cheek from within. After that, I tighten the detached skin and remove any excess. Finally, I close the wound edges, which helps to smooth out wrinkles and correct any drooping in the cheeks.
I use hidden, absorbable stitches to close the wound, so you won’t have to worry about getting them removed later.
Since the surgical incision is made right at the ear’s margin, there won’t be any visible scars from the side.
When we discuss your options, we’ll determine the best technique for you. Factors like the degree of sagging, the looseness of the cheek tissues, and the presence of wrinkles on the skin are all important considerations. In some cases, we might even combine both the endoscopic facelift and the standard technique for optimal results.
A deep plane facelift requires general anesthesia and typically takes about 2 to 4 hours, depending on the technique we choose. You’ll spend one day in the hospital, and I’ll apply a bandage that you’ll need to wear for a few days after the surgery.
After your facelift, you might experience some discomfort, including minor pain, bruising, swelling, tension, and numbness in your face. These sensations are completely normal and part of the healing process. Pain levels vary from person to person, but don’t worry—painkillers can help ease any discomfort you might feel.
The swelling usually goes down pretty quickly, typically within the first week or two. For any lingering mild swelling, your facial skin will generally settle down in about 3 to 4 months.
In those initial weeks, as the swelling subsides, you’ll notice that the tension and numbness on your face lessen day by day. The numbness is temporary and happens because of the disruption of nerve connections under the skin. As your wounds heal, those sensations will gradually return.
The time it takes for bruising to fade can vary based on how sensitive your skin is. For some people, it might take up to 2 weeks for bruises to disappear completely, but after an endoscopic facelift, the bruising is usually less noticeable.
In the days right after your surgery, you might not recognize your own face due to the swelling and bruising. But don’t worry—your features will start to look more like themselves as the swelling and bruising diminish.
Cheeks are often the first area to show signs of aging. As they sag, the effects become more apparent. Fortunately, the surgery can help restore a youthful appearance by eliminating the tired look that comes with age, especially when performed with the right technique on suitable candidates.

Mini facelift incision
A mini facelift, often referred to as the MACS lift (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension), is essentially a shorter version of the deep plane facelift. This technique is particularly effective for addressing mild to moderate sagging in the cheek and jawline areas.
During a mini facelift, the surgeon makes an incision in front of the ear, which doesn’t extend to the back. This approach helps achieve a more youthful appearance while minimizing visible scarring.
I lift the skin across the entire cheek and upper neck area. By dissecting the skin, I expose the SMAS layer. Typically, I fold the SMAS and secure it with plication sutures to achieve that tightening and lifting effect. This way, the loose tissue is lifted from within, resulting in a long-lasting outcome. After the SMAS plication, I trim away any excess skin to smooth out superficial wrinkles, giving you a more even skin surface. Finally, I close the incision using discreet, absorbable stitches.
What you can expect during the recovery phase is quite similar to what you’d experience with a traditional technique. The difference is that with a mini facelift, the process is lighter and quicker, allowing you to bounce back faster and get back to your everyday life sooner.

Satisfaction rate diagram after a facelift
The complication rates come from a mix of medical literature and data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. These rates can differ based on a patient’s medical history and age, but that doesn’t mean you’ll face all of those complications.
If you smoke or have diabetes, the risks associated with head and neck surgeries, particularly a deep plane facelift, can increase. Smoking can slow down wound healing, which might lead to skin necrosis. Ideally, it’s best to quit smoking 10 to 15 days before your surgery to ensure your safety.
While nerve damage is an extremely rare complication following a deep plane facelift, it’s still something to be aware of.
The chances of developing a hematoma (a collection of blood inside the wound) or an infection are significantly reduced with careful bleeding control during surgery and the use of antibiotics. Plus, these risks are even lower with endoscopic facelifts.
By employing meticulous surgical techniques and appropriate medications, the procedure can lead to a positive experience and high satisfaction for patients.
IMPORTANT ! Before getting the appointment, check your medical conditions yourself.
