Otoplasty in Dubai costs between AED 10,000 and AED 30,000 across the emirate. My own fee for ear surgery is between AED 20,000 and AED 30,000.
This page sets out what that fee reflects and what it includes. What it reflects is the one thing that decides whether an otoplasty lasts — whether the operation properly neutralizes the natural spring in the ear cartilage, or merely folds it back and hopes. What it includes is everything: the surgery, the hospital, the anesthesia and the care around them, with nothing to pay afterward. A price quoted before an examination is a price for an operation, not for a patient, and so the exact figure follows a consultation rather than preceding it.

Why the exact figure comes after a consultation
A single number at the top of a page is tidy, and it can mislead. Otoplasty is not one operation. Correcting a mildly prominent ear and rebuilding a significantly misshapen one are different procedures. One ear or two changes the operation. And an adult under local anesthesia and a child who needs sedation are different again.
A price given before an examination has priced the procedure, not the patient. What your ears — or your child’s — actually need can only be judged by examining the cartilage, how firm it is and how strongly it resists reshaping. You are given a range here, and an exact figure in writing once you have been examined.
What the fee reflects: the operation itself
Most of what you are paying for is the operation, and with otoplasty the difference between a good result and a disappointing one comes down to a single problem that the cheaper techniques do not solve. Here is what mine involves.
- Neutralizing cartilage memory — the thing that decides whether it lasts. Ear cartilage has an inherent tendency to return to its original shape after being bent or folded. If that elastic force is not properly neutralized during the surgery, the cartilage pushes back against the correction, and the ear gradually re-protrudes months or years later. This is the single most common reason ears spring back after otoplasty, and addressing it properly is the core of the operation — and the main thing the fee is paying for.
- Why the simplified techniques relapse. The techniques often promoted as quick or scarless — simple suture fixation, or incisionless otoplasty — frequently fail to address that elastic force adequately. They can look right at first and loosen later. A correction that holds does more than pull the ear back with a stitch; it reshapes the cartilage so it no longer wants to spring open. That extra work is the difference between this fee and a cheaper quote — and often between one operation and two.
- The scar hidden behind the ear. The incision is placed behind the ear, so there is no visible mark on the front where others would see it.
- The right setting for the patient. For an adult, local anesthesia is usually enough, the operation takes about an hour, and there is no hospital stay or restriction on normal activity. A child, who may be anxious, can have sedation or general anesthesia. The stitches dissolve, so none need removing.

The number I give you is the number you pay. Nothing arrives afterward.

One figure, and nothing after it. There is no separate hospital invoice, and no bill arriving in the weeks after your surgery. When I quote you a number, that is the number, and it does not move.
What moves the figure within the range
Three things decide where within the range you sit.
- One ear or both. Most otoplasty is done on both ears for symmetry, which is more than twice the work of one considered alone.
- How much reshaping is needed. Bringing a mildly prominent ear closer to the head is a shorter operation than rebuilding a significantly misshapen one, where more cartilage work is required.
- Adult or child. An adult under local anesthesia and a child needing sedation or general anesthesia are different in setup, and the anesthesia affects the figure.
None of these can be judged from a photograph. All of them are apparent within minutes of an examination.
Ear surgery for children
The best age for cosmetic ear surgery is around six. By then the cartilage is developed enough to reshape, and a child of school age is old enough that prominent ears may have begun to affect confidence.
Parents often try headbands first, hoping to correct the shape without surgery. Because of the same cartilage memory described above, headbands rarely make a lasting difference — the cartilage holds its own shape and returns to it. Where surgery is the right answer, a child may need sedation or general anesthesia rather than the local anesthesia an adult would have, which is reflected in the figure.
Insurance in the UAE
I do not work with insurance companies, so payment to me is direct.
Cosmetic otoplasty is not covered by health insurance in the UAE. In uncommon cases — where an ear deformity causes a genuine functional problem, or significant psychological distress in a child — a policy may in principle respond to part of the cost. But because I do not work with insurers, you would pay me directly and pursue any reimbursement with your insurer yourself.
If a possible claim matters to your decision, take it up directly with your insurer before you see me, so you know where you stand.
Revision, and what my quotation does not promise
The figure I quote is the figure you pay for the operation we agreed. There is no hidden cost within it.
If a second procedure is later performed, that is a second operation, and it is priced as one. I would rather state that now than have you feel misled later. A surgeon who implies that all future surgery is included has made a promise he will eventually resent, and you will be the person he resents.
How to get your figure
You, or your child, are examined so that the cartilage can be assessed — how prominent the ears are, how firm the cartilage is, and how strongly it resists reshaping. That is what decides the operation, and therefore the figure.
